The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the largest political party in the world in today’s time. The NDA government has played a pivotal role with its governance and is currently in power across 21 states in India. On 6th April, 2025, the party celebrated its 45th foundation day coinciding with Ram Navami. This remarkable political rise can be attributed to the significant influence of Lord Rama, the Hindu God with a revered personality and a symbol of ideal governance.
Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, born in Ayodhya during the Treta Yug, has showed the world the ideal system of governance, which is also known as ‘Ram Rajya’. While none of us has experienced what the Teta Yug’s Ram Rajya was actually like, the question here arises, “How should today’s Ram Rajya be, where the whole world is connected to each other?
A Constant Battle
US President Donald Trump’s planned tariffs recently smashed the global trade norms. The stock markets of most countries began faltering as the US tariffs hit. Be it America, China or Europe, every nation has its own problems related to economy. At the same time, a highly-populated country like India also has its own challenges. It is not easy as it seem for any government or system to live up to the expectations of 1.4 billion people.
From education to hospitals, employment to solving poverty issues, it is a constant battle equivalent to climbing the Mount Everest daily. In such a situation, it is important to understand what Ram Rajya should be like in today’s time? Also, What should be the conduct of the rulers in power and the people of India for Ram Rajya?
But have you ever wondered what version of Lord Rama is needed in a social system that is ultra individualistic, ultra consumerist and disconnected from reality to build relationships in the virtual world? What kind of dignity is needed to accelerate the crumbling economy? Today, we will try to explore the answers to such pivotal questions.
Increase In Challenges With Surge In Population
India with a population of more than 140 crores encounters many challenges on a daily basis. The world’s largest youth population exists in this nation, with a large population sitting unemployed. The bigger problem here is that most people do not have appropriate jobs aligning with their degrees. In such a situation, some are cursing the system, while others are blaming their fate. This issue can be viewed with two perspectives –
- Lack of skill according to respective degrees
- Skill, but no job in the market
What Should Be The Moral Or Religious Conduct?
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is advancing with the vision of a ‘Vikshit Bharat’ or developed India by 2047. However, is it only the government’s responsibility to make our country developed? What should be the moral or religious conduct, thoughts, and actions of the citizens ahead towards this step? It is a significant matter which makes one think – How can we build a society where the government does not need to distribute government food grains for free to satisfy the hunger of 80 crore people? A nation where people become so prosperous that they themselves start giving up on subsidies or a country where the youth are highly trained in schools and colleges, so that they do not have to struggle for jobs. The question here arises is, “Are BJP and Narendra Modi working on such a model of Ram Rajya?
Challenges Faced By The World
In light of the challenges faced by the world, there is a need for a Ram Rajya where every person tries his his best to contribute towards his/her country with complete honesty. Irrespective of whether you are doing a job or self-employed, you must consider it as your field of work and constantly struggle to expand it. At the same time, keep yourself updated according to the rapid technological changes. The day it happens, only then we will be able to realize the dream of Ram Rajya.
Ram Rajya Transformed Into Modern Liberal Democracy
Every civilized society in this world is trying to make the dream of Ram Rajya a reality in its own way. While Valmiki’s Ram Rajya talks about social justice, Tulsidas’ Ram Rajya is a utopia, where there is no suffering or discrimination between people of all ages. By the 20th century, Ram Rajya has transformed into a modern liberal democracy, whose objective became the establishment of a Welfare State.
Will Ram Rajya Come By Distributing Freebies?
Notably, PM Modi talks about “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas.” However, during elections, the BJP leaders try every possible trick to polarize votes. Narratives such as “Katenge toh batenge, Ek rahenge toh safe rahenge” are promoted. At the same time, sensitive issues like Aurangzeb’s tomb, Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid, Gyanvapi, Mathura are heated up. The party workers also distribute “Saugat-E-Modi” kits to bring the Muslim community closer. In such a situation, the question here is whether in today’s Ram Rajya, the polarization of votes to win elections and the talks related to viewing every countrymen with the prism of equality in the name of Raj Dharma will continue?
BJP Changes With Time
BJP is an experimental party who accepts changes with time. Since its inception on 6 April 1980, the party has done many experiments to gain power. In the modern democratic system, the public elects the ruler with their votes. It is they who decides which leader will serve them? The Modi-Shah duo has turned BJP into an Election Winning Machine. PM Modi’s stature in the government and the organization has become so huge that no other party or leader currently stands a chance.
PM Modi’s 75th Birthday
On 17 September, Prime Minister Modi will turn 75 years old. Even at this stage of age, he is full of enthusiasm and energy. Here, a question that often arises in the mind of the common man is that who will be his potential alternative within BJP? Whenever this question is asked to any BJP leader, they answer in a very composed manner. They say that even in 2029, Modi will become the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, others answer that BJP is a party of workers and when the time comes, anyone among the lakhs of BJP workers can become the Prime Minister.
Not Easy To Defeat Regional Parties
In the Modi-Shah era, it seems that BJP does not consider Congress as its political rival in the first phase. However, it was difficult for the saffron party to defeat regional parties. Therefore, in the second phase, BJP is now engaged in dealing with them. In today’s Ram Rajya of BJP, there is Modi model of governance, and also strict discipline in the party. There is also a vocal thinking that sidelines political opponents, and also the desire to remain in power at any cost. Shri Ram was a symbol of taking everyone along.
