New Delhi: Ahead of the G20 summit, the Delhi government is taking as many possible ways to beautify the national capital, and recently they have decided to deploy a special 30-mobile team of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to maintain and keep an eye on air quality till the summit on September 9 and 10.

A government official said, “Any kind of pollution causing activities like burning garbage in large amounts, lack of safety precautions at a construction site, vehicular pollution, two-wheelers plying heavy noise pollution and others will be taken strictly. Challans will be issued on the spot.”

The primary goal of these mobile teams, as stated by officials, is to ensure that no pollution-causing activities occur in the vicinity of the Pragati Maidan, where the summit will take place. These teams will also cover the areas where foreign delegates are expected to visit during the summit.

According to officials, Lieutenant-Governor (LG) Vinai Kumar Saxena, who is closely monitoring the G20 preparations in Delhi, has instructed the 30 teams of DPCC to remain on the ground throughout the event until its conclusion. Any violations detected by these teams will result in immediate prosecution.

Approximately 61 significant roads, including the venue outside ITPO, and 21 hotels associated with the Summit in seven districts of the capital, are being closely monitored by the L-G for their makeovers and maintenance. Among these, 36 roads and 17 hotels are situated in the New Delhi district, while the South-West district has two roads and one hotel.

The seven districts housing such projects are New Delhi, South East, South, Central, Shahdara, South West, and East. Furthermore, the remaining four districts – North, West, North West, and North East – have also identified a few projects of similar nature.
