IMD Weather LIVE Updates: A spell of intense weather is expected to continue across large parts of India today, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rains, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in multiple regions. The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, some more parts of North Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Northeastern states and some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and entire Sikkim today, the 29th May 2025.
The IMD has informed that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of West Bengal and Bihar during next 1-2 days. Moreover, the deep depression over coastal West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh moved slowly northeastwards.
Kerala, Mahe, and Karnataka are set to experience widespread light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h.
South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, including Puducherry and Karaikal, are likely to see isolated extremely heavy rainfall, raising concerns about potential localised flooding. Coastal Karnataka will also see heavy to very heavy rainfall, with strong winds persisting through the day.
Northeast Under Heavy Rain Alert
The entire Northeast, including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, will continue to see widespread rainfall. IMD warns of isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Nagaland and adjoining areas. This could lead to waterlogging, landslides in hilly regions, and travel disruptions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued strong warnings for fishermen due to rough sea conditions and strong winds over several coastal regions and open sea areas.
Where Not To Venture – May 30 Forecast
Heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan on May 30 and 31.
· The entire Northeast region will continue to witness widespread rainfall.
· Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to experience isolated extremely heavy downpours, while Meghalaya could receive exceptionally heavy rainfall, possibly disrupting normal life and travel in hilly regions.
According to the IMD, conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to advance into more parts of Bihar and West Bengal within the next 1–2 days, bringing much-needed relief from pre-monsoon heat in these regions.
Bihar Braces For Rainfall
Parts of Bihar are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall today, especially in the northern and central districts, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. As the monsoon prepares to move further into the state, residents are advised to stay alert for sudden weather changes and localised flooding in low-lying areas.
