The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in different parts of the country between July 17 and 22. An alert has been issued for hilly, plain and coastal areas.
Heavy rains are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in North-West India. At the same time, rain is also expected in some areas of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Special warnings have been issued for very heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Himachal and North Punjab.
In East and Central India, Bihar has been put on high alert for extremely heavy rains for July 17. Apart from this, good rains are also expected in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand throughout the week.
Heavy rains may occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya in North-East India between July 17 and 22. During this period, there is also a possibility of normal to moderate rain.
Heavy rains may occur in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka of South India. A warning of extremely heavy rain has been issued in Kerala on 17th July. Also, the weather is expected to remain bad in many states with lightning, thunder and strong winds.

IMD has predicted floods and landslides in hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir as heavy rain is expected in several parts.
Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy falls is likely over Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, coastal Karnataka, Kerala
According to the weekly forecast released by the IMD on the evening of July 16, the city is expected to experience light to moderate rain, with cloudy skies remaining.
