Satellite Images Out! Did India Target An Underground Facility At Pakistan Air Force’s Murid Airbase? 3-Metre-Deep Crater Found- What Was Hit?

"The Strike is visible at the most guarded complex within Murid Airbase. The approximately three-meter-wide munition impact crater is just 30 meters north of one of the two entrances to a likely underground facility"- Damien Symon

As days pass, more proof is emerging of India’s precision strike on Pakistan’s critical military bases. Newly surfaced high-resolution satellite images reveal extensive damage at Pakistan’s Murid Airbase, reportedly targeted by the Indian Armed Forces in retaliation for Islamabad’s provocations following Operation Sindoor.

New satellite images show that there’s a crater (a large hole) about three meters wide at the Murid Airbase. Sources say this crater lies just 30 meters from what they believe is an underground military facility.

Damien Symon, a geospatial intelligence researcher with Intel Lab, shared satellite images of the Murid Airbase through his X handle. Captured by Maxar Technologies, the images show damage to the rooftop of a structure located near the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) hangars. Symon specializes in analyzing satellite images to monitor changes in military and infrastructure activity. He wrote- “the strike is visible at the most guarded complex within Murid air base. The approximately three-meter-wide munition impact crater is just 30 meters north of one of the two entrances to a likely underground facility.”

According to an NDTV report, quoting Damien Symon: “The Strike is visible at the most guarded complex within Murid Airbase. The approximately three-meter-wide munition impact crater is just 30 meters north of one of the two entrances to a likely underground facility.” Symon added, “This complex is heavily protected with double fencing, its own watchtowers and access control indicating its high-value nature as a target. The earth-protected entrances suggest this site might serve as storage for special equipment or as a hardened operational shelter for personnel, capable of withstanding heavy bombardment,” he added.

Operation Sindoor

Fourteen days after terrorists based in Pakistan killed 26 innocent civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precise and carefully planned strikes. These attacks targeted nine known terrorist locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the operation named Operation Sindoor. The strikes, conducted on May 7, resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists.

Following this, Pakistan provoked India with drones and missile attacks on civilians as well as military bases. They got a befitting reply. In response to Pakistan’s provocations, the Indian Air Force bypassed and jammed Pakistan’s Chinese-made air defence system and inflicted heavy damage on air and military bases ranging from Nur Khan to Sargodha. These strikes were so powerful that they significantly weakened Pakistan’s armed forces, which had been boasting just hours before India’s decisive action. After three days of sustained damage, Pakistan reached out to India with a ceasefire request, which India accepted, as confirmed by the government on May 10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised in his first address after Operation Sindoor that this was not just a military operation but a fundamental shift in India’s policy- a new doctrine against terrorism that the country intends to continue.
