Double hatting is the unspoken way of life for Salesforce Engineers. With Engineering backgrounds this workforce glides into a customer facing role thereby balancing two complex worlds of tech and people. Senior Salesforce Engineer Ronith Pingili dissects the dynamic domain of Salesforce; trend spots and offers solutions to stay ahead of the curve.
A Globee Award winner for Customer Excellence, Ronith has held positions in large corporations like Western union, Northern Trust Corporation, Zillow Group and Block. He serves as a Senior Committee Member at IEEE SusTech and has recently added a Bronze Stevie to his list of achievements. Ronith Pingili stated, “It is a challenging domain because you are trained to think about tech and one has studied technology yet on the job you also have to deal with the everchanging human mind. You can still learn and keep with technical knowledge but studying human behaviour is another beast altogether”.
A Paintball Match
Taking an up close and personal look at the professional demands of a Salesforce Engineer Ronith opined, “It is like a paintball match every day. From mentoring junior developers as their technical leaders to collaborating with stakeholders, translating business objectives to technical solutions based on the available tools and everything in between is all in a day’s job. On top of that as you go up the ladder one has to ensure scalability, security of Salesforce applications and performance.
Upskilling As AI keeps upgrading
AI has touched every sphere of life. Professionals at the core of this technological revolution are expected to upskill quickly so that they are not left behind. The Salesforce landscape is swinging towards AI integration at various steps. Ronith said,” AI is increasingly becoming the core focus of Salesforce. Tools like Einstein GPT are taking centre stage and like any other AI tool this too enables automation, personalized customer experiences so as to drive efficiency. As professionals we have to adopt and implement quickly, hence upgrading out AI and Data skills are a need of the hour”.
Dependence On DevOps, Automation And Cloud
Automation has come in the form of Salesforce DevOps. Modern projects require ultra efficient development pipelines and processes. The use cases of DevOps automation tools are expanding, percolating into sales processes and workflows. Pingili said, “Companies are largely depending on DevOps and other forms of automation to streamline workflows and sales processes. It also helps the team to operate optimally and smoothly hence it is critical we adapt to the demands of the changing environment and proactively learn DevOps skills”. Cloud is another area of focus that has been noticed in recent times. Salesforce Engineers are showcasing agility by equipping themselves with in-depth understanding and adoption of various Cloud processes.
Go Green
“Sustainability is a buzzword as much as AI is. As a techie and a Salesforce Engineer, we are expected to integrate this in our daily existence. Adopting Green CRM measures and making it a part of our solutions is expected. This is gaining traction very quickly, as seasoned professionals and conscious citizen Salesforce Engineers are expected to be early adopters”, explained Pingili.
Hybrid Is The New Normal
Workforce world over has entered into Hybrid models of working. This is a trend that is sustaining for a while now. The remote and flexible module itself is throwing various sub trends as to how
organizations are using Salesforce. “This is more of a lifestyle and mindset change. There are both advantages and disadvantages, especially with the juniors who still need rigorous training and handholding. This is where automations trickles in to bridge the gaps”
Market Trends For Salesforce Jobs
Ronith concludes, “Given the Hybrid model of operation, the increasing demand on automation, cloud and AI one has to develop a flexible mindset. Nothing is set in stone anymore. Tomorrow we can see a brand-new technology or be told that we have to work from the office through the week. Hence It is important to stay agile and adapt”.
The job market shows a growth in demand for specialized professionals with niches in Marketing Cloud, advanced knowledge of AU and domains like Lightning Web Components. Salesforce certification is also becoming a prerequisite for career growth. He added, “A learner is always welcome, be it technology or soft skills. Infact a lot of importance is laid on candidates with critical thinking abilities, communication and leadership skills”.
