Different current gains of transistors

  1. Common emitter current gain (β) : \(\beta={I_C\over I_B}\)
  2. Common base current gain (α) : \(α={I_C\over I_E}\)
  3. Common collector current gain (γ) : \(\gamma={I_E\over I_B}\)

where, IC = Collector current

IB = Base Current

IE = Emitter current

Calculation

Given, IE = 4A

α = 0.75

IC = α × IE = 0.75 × 4 = 3A

IE = IC + IB

4 = 3 + IB

IB = 1A
